I guess you win to some extent. ![]() Yet, somehow, many seem to assume Microsoft has some responsibility to just provide and support the Windows operating system, for free, indefinitely. ![]() Nobody expects the monitor, or hard drive in a PC to be supported a decade later, or updated for free by the manufacturer. Everyone understands that a new vehicle has a limited warranty, and will eventually need to be replaced. The objection to upgrading and the expectation that an operating system should be both free and supported for all eternity by the vendor are some sort of bizarre entitlement mentality. They lamented the sheer audacity of Microsoft for daring to expect to sell them a new operating system despite the fact most hadn't given Microsoft a single penny for years. They claimed that Microsoft should be responsible for maintaining and updating an OS it had released more than a decade earlier. Windows XP loyalists accused Microsoft of simply being greedy. ![]()
